Keep your internal gears on hum and you’ll live longer
By Charles Martin | July 11, 2009
This is one of my firmest beliefs and something I’ve been studying for a while as a hobby but as my interest peaks, I dig more and more. I live on less calories than most and have a great running coach to thank for this. The theory is that if your machine is running less, using up less of it’s measured life span, you’ll age slower. Most people know you need a minimum of calories (I live on 1200) to do your day to day. The rest is just stored away for stomach stapling later.
You see it a lot in elderly folks — they eat at 4.30. The reduce their intake. But that’s too late.
You should start this at 20 and train your body to ask for less. I did and I couple it with a steady running regimen to keep heart and mind clear. It’s not foolproof but I often wonder what it must be like for those with the extra 20+ pounds and no exercise plan to live each day. Sure, you’re only holding a few extra pounds but it’s aging you too. Also, you can see that not only might you live a bit longer, you will have less pain and suffering while you do. I need (and try) to get and keep my saturated fats down and that’s important too. Even the 1200 calories I motor on need to be lean.
Check out what these guys are finding. Pretty interesting.
Get out there and do something!
