Charles L Martin's Blog

Charles L Martin has spent a lifetime experiencing hard won sales and marketing battles in the fashion (7th Avenue), film (Hollywood), beverage (Worldwide), and financial industries (SoCal).

His clients, past and present, include Liz Claiborne, Tommy Hilfiger, Esprit, D.F. Sanders & Co., more than 25 A-List actors and producers in film, Rhino Chaser's Beer, Signature Nannies, among others. By clients, he sometimes means "bosses" and sometimes "clients".

The concept of Anticipation Marketing is his specialty.

He loves marketers and sales hacks. He loves (or dislikes) your company. His rants may inspire you. They may ignite you. Either way, it's all good.

    September is make up month

    Monday, August 31st, 2009

The great Coldplay song “Swallowed in the Sea” reminds me that I wanted to post to all of the HH readers and suggest we all go out and make up with someone that we’ve cut off or ousted from our lives.  Recently.  A long time ago.

    Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

@culinaryfreedom is the new, hot, thing.  I can’t tell you much more but keep your eyes and ears on this space along with Twitter.  Soon, everyone will be naming their own price.

    The mods have it

    Thursday, August 20th, 2009

I worked a mod the other day for a friend of a friend of a friend and low and behold you CAN not pay your mortgage for 13 months and get away with it.  Not only that, we were successful in getting new terms after this with the standard 3 mo. forbearance.  I’m certainly not [...]

There’s good news for runner’s knees

    Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

The NY Times reports about a new study that says runner’s knees may be in good shape for the future after all.  That makes me feel all the more better.  The key is not getting an injury in the first place.  I think staying away from trail running is probably one idea.

Sales is a lot about organization…

    Monday, August 3rd, 2009

… especially as it relates to your prospect.
I’ve been chasing sales all month pretty hard and the ones that didn’t stick really came down to organization.  It’s silly that this one premise is a road block but it really is.
The calls I make as a cold-caller are always about trying to find the right time [...]
